The residents of Auroville celebrate the diversity of their Residents' Assembly
16.7.2022
On July 16th, around 1,000 Auroville residents gathered for an all-community potluck aimed at fostering a sense of togetherness and reaffirming the strength of the Residents’ Assembly. All the work for the preparation of this potluck was done by Aurovilians themselves, utilising only Auroville resources and in-kind help, except a few that were sourced from outside.

The gathering began with collective candle lighting around a depiction of the Auroville symbol made of flowers. The community members then created a huge hand-held circle filling the far edges of the field. There was an abundance of delicious food, a projection of inspiring film clips about Auroville and the Dreamweaving process and an overall spirit of collective joy. Despite the occasional rain, the community stayed and enjoyed the gathering until closing at 9pm.

As the organisers shared: “It was beautiful to see so much willingness and support pouring in in so many ways. It reassured us that the Auroville spirit is very much alive and that each one of us sincerely carries it in their Auroville journey.”
